19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
